AI Engineer (gn)

Start: immediately | Level: Mid - Senior | Location: Germany, remote | Working Hours: Full Time (40h/Week) 

Artificial intelligence is transforming the way we work, make decisions, and automate processes. As an AI Engineer (gn), you bring AI to where it creates real value in day-to-day business: translating business requirements into practical, production-ready AI solutions built on our existing tool landscape and an emerging company-wide AI platform.

You work hands-on with our AI tools, including Claude Enterprise, ChatGPT Enterprise, and n8n, building workflows and use cases, advancing our AI tooling, and helping introduce, consolidate, and govern new technologies. You think end-to-end—from the initial problem statement through implementation and deployment.

Due to organizational and regulatory requirements, residency in Germany is required for this position.

Your mission

• Translate Business Requirements into AI Solutions

  • Translate business requirements into concrete, implementable AI solutions, working closely with Business, Security, and Engineering teams.
  • Own AI use cases from the initial idea through production deployment, including implementation, stakeholder alignment, documentation, and transparency.
  • Integrate AI, LLMs, and AI agents into production workflows while contributing to the development of a centralized AI infrastructure/platform.

  Work with and Evolve Our AI Tool Landscape

  • Work hands-on with our enterprise AI tools (Claude Enterprise, ChatGPT Enterprise) and help improve their capabilities and usability.
  • Build and maintain workflows and automations in n8n, while enabling teams to use them independently.
  • Evaluate and introduce new AI tools, consolidate existing solutions, and collaborate with Security on standards and governance (e.g., for n8n).
  • Develop AI applications such as RAG solutions, conversational assistants, and AI agents that answer questions, provide recommendations, or execute tasks with human approval.
  • Design governance models, role- and permission concepts, and technical guardrails for the responsible use of AI across the organization.

  Enable Data & Build Our AI Platform

  • Connect structured and unstructured data sources, prepare them for AI applications, and ensure high-quality retrieval using technologies such as embeddings, vector search, and reranking.
  • Contribute to the development of our emerging enterprise AI platform—from answering questions to making recommendations and enabling AI-assisted actions with human approval.
  • Empower business teams to adopt AI securely and effectively while acting as a technical sparring partner for Business and Engineering.
  • Assess new integrations, connectors, and platform capabilities with regard to technical feasibility, governance, and risk.
   

Your experience & skills

• Experience translating business requirements into technical AI solutions, ideally in a project-based or consulting environment.
• Experience integrating AI/ML, LLMs, and agentic AI into production workflows.
• Experience with automation platforms such as n8n (or comparable tools) and enthusiasm for designing and maintaining workflows.
• Confident working with modern enterprise AI platforms (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT), with an interest in evolving, deploying, and governing them—including role and permission models as well as connector integrations.
• Experience connecting data sources for a variety of AI use cases and preparing data for retrieval using techniques such as embeddings, vector search, and reranking.
• Strong technical implementation skills (e.g., Python, APIs, system integrations).
• Understanding of data privacy, security, and AI governance, including GDPR compliance.
• Knowledge of or interest in agile methodologies, change management, and project coordination.
• A self-driven, communicative, and collaborative working style, combined with a passion for emerging AI technologies.
