How to read these numbers
Every figure here is copied from a live listing: a job that is approved, active and states a yearly salary in US dollars. Where a listing gives a range, its midpoint is used for the median; the low and high columns are the medians of what listings put at each end. Hourly and monthly figures, other currencies and implausible numbers are excluded.
Two biases matter. Companies that state pay are not a random sample: they skew toward the United States, where several states require a range in the posting, and toward senior roles at larger companies. And a posted range is base salary; at large companies equity and bonus can add a great deal on top.

Where do these numbers come from?
From the salary fields on live listings on TixelJobs: approved, active jobs that state a US-dollar yearly figure. Nothing is estimated, surveyed or scraped from other salary sites.
Why is the count so much smaller than the number of jobs?
Most listings do not state pay. Roughly one in seven does, and only those can be counted. Listings with hourly or monthly figures, another currency, or an implausible figure are left out too.
What is the midpoint?
Where a listing gives a range, the midpoint is halfway between the low and high figure. Where it gives one number, that number is used. The median midpoint is the figure half of listings sit above and half below.
Does this include equity or bonus?
No. Listings almost always state base salary only, so equity, bonus and benefits are not in these figures, and total compensation at large companies is often well above them.
Which listings are more likely to state pay?
Roles in places with pay transparency laws, larger companies and senior roles state pay more often, so these figures lean toward the US and toward experienced roles. Treat them as what the transparent part of the market pays, not the whole market.
