About the Role
We're seeking a Lead Developer (AI-First & Agentic Orchestration) for our high-growth, AI-native SaaS startup revolutionizing Long-Term Care (senior homes, assisted living, and specialty care providers). This is a remote, hands-on leadership role where you'll architect, build, and scale an intelligent, multi-tenant platform on Google Cloud — while pioneering agentic AI workflows that push toward autonomous "dark factory" development.
About Us
We're an early-stage, AI-first company targeting the massive, underserved Long-Term Care market. Our platform uses leading AI providers and cloud-native architecture to automate complex workflows, enhance care coordination, reduce administrative burdens, and deliver real human impact. We're deliberate builders in a space ripe for disruption through intelligent, agent-driven systems.
This isn't traditional engineering — we're shifting from hand-coding to spec-driven agent orchestration, where humans define high-level intent and AI agents handle implementation, iteration, testing, and convergence at scale.
Role Overview
Hands-on technical leader reporting to the CIO. You'll:
- Own end-to-end architecture with heavy emphasis on agentic orchestration and autonomous development patterns.
- Write and review specs (not just code) to drive AI agents.
- Lead a small, elite engineering team evolving into AI orchestrators rather than traditional coders.
- Integrate frontier AI capabilities pragmatically while maintaining healthcare-grade security, compliance, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Agentic Architecture & Platform Design
- Architect scalable, secure, multi-tenant SaaS on Google Cloud with agent-native patterns.
- Design systems optimized for AI agent orchestration (e.g., non-interactive loops, scenario-based validation, digital twins for safe testing).
- Evaluate and integrate multiple leading AI providers (LLMs, coding agents) into production workflows.
- Build toward spec-only repositories and autonomous convergence (inspired by frontier approaches like StrongDM's Software Factory / Attractor).
- Hands-On Agentic Development & Orchestration
- Daily contribution across:
- Frontend (ReactJS / Next.js) — with AI-generated components where appropriate.
- Backend (Node.js or similar) — increasingly via agent-generated code.
- Cloud orchestration and service integration.
- Lead by example in spec writing, prompt engineering, and agent loop design (e.g., using frameworks like LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or custom Attractor-style agents).
- Orchestrate agent swarms for feature development, refactoring, testing, and optimization — minimizing human code touches.
- Debug, tune, and scale agent performance (including high-volume token usage for reliable convergence).
- Team Leadership & Cultural Shift
- Mentor engineers transitioning to AI orchestration roles (focus on specification quality, evaluation, judgment over implementation).
- Establish best practices for agentic workflows: scenario suites, digital twin simulations, probabilistic validation over traditional unit tests.
- Plan/prioritize work aligned with milestones; balance rapid innovation with disciplined execution.
- Foster high-ownership culture in a fast-evolving startup.
- CI/CD, Quality & Autonomy Engineering
- Evolve CI/CD pipelines to support massive AI-generated code volume and agent-driven releases.
- Implement automated testing strategies (E2E scenarios, behavioral holdouts, digital twins) suitable for agentic systems.
- Establish quality gates, release processes, and monitoring for healthcare-adjacent reliability (HIPAA, PHI handling).
- AI Innovation & Responsible Scaling
- Pragmatically integrate emerging agentic capabilities into care workflows.
- Promote data governance, model reliability, and ethical AI in sensitive healthcare contexts.
- Experiment with high-scale agent runs (targeting meaningful daily token budgets to unlock frontier productivity).
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years professional software engineering experience.
- 3+ years in technical lead/architecture or engineering management roles.
- Proven track record launching/scaling SaaS products (multi-tenant, cloud-native preferred — Google Cloud a plus).
- Strong comfort in early-stage startups with evolving clarity.
- Deep interest/experience in agentic AI: Familiarity with multi-agent orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen), non-interactive coding agents, scenario-driven validation, or dark-factory patterns.
- Experience integrating LLMs/coding agents into production (bonus: high-volume agent loops or token-scale thinking).
- Solid cloud architecture, DevSecOps, and performance/cost optimization skills.
- HIPAA/FHIR/HL7 familiarity or willingness to master healthcare compliance quickly.
- Strong UI/UX sensibility, systems thinking, and clear communication.
- High ownership; passion for using AI to transform healthcare outcomes.
Why This Role Matters
Long-Term Care faces chronic staffing shortages, regulatory complexity, and rising demands — AI agents can unlock unprecedented efficiency and care quality. You'll build the technical foundation for an AI-orchestrated future, where engineers orchestrate agents rather than write every line. This is a build-and-scale opportunity with outsized impact in an underserved sector.
What Success Looks Like
- A stable, scalable SaaS platform increasingly powered by autonomous agent factories.
- CI/CD and validation pipelines tuned for agent-generated code at volume.
- A high-performing team of AI orchestrators delivering predictable, high-value features.
- Measurable AI-driven improvements in care provider efficiency and outcomes.
- Alignment with business milestones through agentic velocity.
If you're excited to lead the shift to agentic orchestration in healthcare SaaS — defining specs, scaling agents, and building toward dark-factory autonomy — we'd love to talk.
Apply with your resume, LinkedIn, and a brief note on your experience with agentic AI or autonomous coding workflows.
