With a global team across North America, South America, Central America, Europe, and APAC, we offer end to end expertise across eight core service areas: Digital Product Consulting, Digital Marketing Services, Data & AI, Strategy Consulting, Business Operations Modernization, Enterprise Applications, Cloud Engineering, and QA & Test Engineering.

Location & Flexibility

Our interns are integral parts of our teams at TELUS Digital. Our office culture is designed to foster in person innovation, collaboration, and connection with team members, local and visiting, from other global offices. In order to help retain this culture, this role will maintain an in office presence in a hybrid capacity from one of our offices in São Paulo (2 times/week or 8 days/month) or Porto Alegre (3 times/week or 12 days/month). You apply to one location.

The Opportunity

Most students are asked to specialise before they've had the chance to try anything, picking a lane from a course catalogue and a guess, then spending years finding out whether it fits. We'd rather you choose with your hands.

As a Data & AI Intern at TELUS Digital, you'll get real range across the whole field, including pipelines, analytics, modelling, and generative AI, rather than being boxed into one lane from day one. You'll start with a structured learning roadmap and a book club with the team, building toward a project with the other interns to put it all into practice. From there, you'll join real projects, internal products and client work reaching millions of users, before going deeper into whatever pulls you most. You'll have a mentor from our full time team from your first week to your last, and a cohort of fellow interns going through it with you.

Responsibilities

- Learn out loud. Ask questions in reviews, stand ups, and of your mentor. We expect you to chase down what you don't know.

- Work with data end to end, from writing queries to transforming and modeling data that feeds our analytics and AI products.

- Build models that earn their place. Train and evaluate machine learning models, and learn to defend a model choice with data.

- Build with Large Language Models, getting hands on with LLM based systems like retrieval augmented generation and AI agents.

- Help evaluate our models and AI systems, defining what "working correctly" means, then measuring it.

- See a lot, fast. As a consultancy, problems and tools shift with the client, and your work will reach millions of users.

- Bring AI into how you work, getting comfortable alongside coding agents and AI assisted development.

Qualifications

- Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Technologist programme in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related science based field, from the 3rd semester forward

- Comfortable writing Python, and able to explain what your code does and why

- Some exposure to SQL, enough to select, filter, and join, or enough curiosity to get there quickly

- Real curiosity about data and AI, and an appetite to work across the field rather than just one part of it

- Living in São Paulo or Porto Alegre, and able to work in office per the location's schedule above

- Availability of 30 hours a week for at least 1 year, ideally a year and a half

- Intermediate to Advanced English level (B2 preferred; strong B1 candidates will be considered)
