KINETIK Space is a space robotics start-up based in the Munich region, Germany. Founded by an expert team from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) with decades of experience in real space robotic operations in orbit on board the International Space Station (ISS) and deep space exploration. We offer an array of intelligent solutions in space robotic manipulators and end effectors. The KINETIK Space Robotic Technology is backed by a continuing close collaboration with DLR, along with its decades of space robotics development and operations. Our mission is to bring this cutting-edge technology and know-how to the rapidly growing space sector, for both agency clients as well as commercial partners such as launchers and satellite operators.

About the Position

We are looking for a skilled and motivated technical specialist (Techniker/in) to join our engineering team to support the development, assembly, and testing of advanced space robotic systems and electronic testbeds.

The ideal candidate should have a combination of strong hands-on technical skills, and a structured working style. Good communication skills in English is required (German a plus).

Your tasks:

  • Assembly and commissioning of robotic systems and subassemblies
  • Mechanical and electrical assembly of components according to technical drawings
  • Building and maintaining electronic and mechatronic testbeds
  • Supporting engineers in prototype development and system integration
  • Execution, documentation, and evaluation of functional and validation tests
  • Troubleshooting and fault analysis on electronic and electromechanical systems
  • Procurement and ordering of electronic and mechanical components
  • Managing hardware inventory and supplier coordination
  • Preparation of test reports and technical documentation
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards

Relevant skills

Required:

  • Completed vocational training as an Electronics Technician, Mechanics Technician, Mechatronics Technician, or State-Certified Technician (Techniker/in) in Electronics, Mechanics, Mechatronics, Automation, or a comparable field
  • Practical experience in electronics or mechanics assembly, wiring, and testing
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Hands-on experience with measurement equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, power supplies)
  • Experience with robotics systems, automation, or laboratory setups is a plus
  • Structured, independent, and solution-oriented working style
  • Good communication skills in English (German language skills are an advantage)
  • Team player with a keen sense of responsibility and work quality

Desired:

  • Basic programming knowledge (e.g., Python, C/C++)
  • Experience with CAD tools for electrical and mechanical design
  • Experience in hardware procurement or supplier management
  • Space industry experience a plus
