About the Role
About Dimensional
Dimensional is building the foundation for physical intelligence in general-purpose robotics. We develop a unified framework that enables robots to perceive, reason, learn, and act across diverse real-world environments and embodiments. Dimensional’s mission is to make physical intelligence programmable, scalable, and accessible -- accelerating the development of generalist robots that can adapt, learn, and perform reliably in the real world.
Our platform sits between robot hardware and AI models, providing a modular, composable architecture for training and deploying robotic intelligence at scale. By abstracting hardware differences and standardizing core capabilities—such as perception, spatial understanding, decision-making, and control—Dimensional allows developers and partners to build, transfer, and operate robotic skills efficiently across platforms.
About This Role
We’re looking for a Forward-Deployed Engineer to work directly at the intersection of customers, software, and physical robotic systems. This role is about closing the last 10%: taking cutting-edge robotics software and making it work reliably in real-world environments. You’ll partner closely with end users to understand their workflows, deploy systems in the wild, and translate real-world constraints into product and engineering improvements. While experience with physical hardware is a plus, our core mission is to dramatically lower the barrier to deploying robots — strong software engineers with customer-facing experience are encouraged to apply.
Core Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and adapt the Dimensional robotics platform in real-world customer environments.
- Partner directly with users to gather requirements, understand operational constraints, and identify edge cases encountered in production.
- Serve as a key interface between product, engineering, and customers, ensuring tight feedback loops and rapid iteration.
- Own end-to-end real-world implementations, from initial system setup and validation through stable, long-term operation.
- Contribute production-quality, maintainable code to the core platform codebase, informed by deployment learnings.
- Help define, document, and standardize best practices for deploying and operating robotic systems at scale.
What We Look For
- Prior experience in forward-deployed engineering, solutions engineering, or other customer-facing technical roles.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including the ability to design, implement, and maintain production-quality systems.
- Comfort working with real-world systems characterized by incomplete information, hardware constraints, and operational uncertainty.
- Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous customer requirements into well-defined technical solutions and execution plans.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience deploying and operating physical hardware systems in real-world environments.
- Professional background at forward-deployed or deployment-intensive organizations (e.g., Palantir, Anduril, or similar).
- Prior exposure to robotics, embedded systems, automation, or related physical systems domains.
