About the role

This is an exceptional opportunity to play a key operational role at the heart of a dynamic new centre working on one of the most significant technology challenges of our time — shaping how artificial intelligence is adopted and diffused across the UK’s key productive and industrial sectors and contributing to global policy and practice through knowledge exchange with international partners.

The Events and Operations Officer will be central to CADI’s day-to-day effectiveness, providing the operational and logistical foundation that enables the Centre to deliver its ambitious programme of AI Innovation Policy Labs, stakeholder events, and engagement activities.

The postholder will work closely with the CADI Director and Stakeholder Engagement Manager to ensure the smooth planning and delivery of all Centre events, manage operational processes, and support the administration of the Centre’s activities.

CADI is established as a joint centre with the World Economic Forum, offering an exceptional opportunity to engage with, learn from and build partnerships across the WEF's global Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) Network — an international network of independent centres that bring together the public and private sector to explore exponential technologies and drive their responsible adoption and application. This relationship provides access to global knowledge exchange, convening power and policy influence across the C4IR's international community of governments, businesses and researchers.

CADI is supported by the UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology with a remit to develop science-policy interfaces to aid the adoption of transformative AI applications across the UK Industrial Strategy and chart pathways for their adoption across industry.

What you would be doing

  • Leading on the operational responsibilities of planning and delivering CADI’s events programme, including the AI Innovation Policy Labs, stakeholder roundtables, symposia , workshops and other Centre activities, managing event logistics including venue sourcing and booking, catering, audio-visual requirements, delegate registration and communications, on-the-day management and post-event follow-up, ensuring events run smoothly and to a high standard.
  • Supporting the Stakeholder Engagement Manager in the administration of CADI’s stakeholder relationships.
  • Leading on the financial management and co-ordination processes across the Centre and ensuring that the Centre Director and wider team are provided with relevant, clear, accurate and informative financial information and analysis in order to ensure effective decision making.
  • To take the lead on all HR processes including recruitment and advertising, creation of job descriptions, staff reviews, inductions, and probations.
  • To provide general administrative support to the CADI team, including diary management, meeting coordination, preparation of documents and presentations, travel and accommodation bookings, and minute-taking as required.
  • To assist with the production of CADI’s communications outputs, including updating website content, preparing social media posts, formatting reports and briefings, and coordinating distribution of newsletters and other materials.
