About the Role
Siemens EDA is a global technology leader in Electronic Design Automation software. Our software tools enable companies around the world to develop highly innovative electronic products faster and more cost-effectively. Our customers use our tools to push the boundaries of technology and physics to deliver better products in the increasingly complex world of chip, board, and system design.
About the role
- We are seeking an accomplished engineering leader to head our R&D engineering efforts for OPC model calibration effort. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise in EDA, model calibration, and OPC modeling with proven leadership experience building high-performance teams and delivering production-grade software and models that scale on GPU-driven and ML-enabled platforms.
What you’ll do (responsibilities)
- Define and execute the technical roadmap for model calibration, OPC modeling, and ML-accelerated flow development within the Calibre product line.
- Lead, mentor, and scale a world-class engineering organization (software engineers, modeling experts, data scientists, and validation engineers).
- Drive architecture and design decisions for high-performance model calibration pipelines (GPU acceleration, distributed compute, cloud/HPC).
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with product management, lithography experts, customer engineering, and QA to translate customer needs into robust solutions.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality releases while maintaining engineering best practices (CI/CD, testing, code review, performance benchmarking).
- Set and track engineering KPIs (delivery velocity, model accuracy metrics, performance targets) and manage resource & budget planning.
- Engage with customers and partners to validate calibration approaches, gather requirements and champion Siemens Calibre technology externally.
- Foster a culture of innovation — encouraging research, patents, publications and adoption of modern ML/AI methods where they provide measurable benefits.
Required qualifications
- Master’s or PhD in applied mathematics, electrical engineering, computer science, mechanics, or a closely related technical discipline.
- At least 10 years of industry experience in EDA, semiconductor manufacturing solutions, or closely related fields.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience and leadership in model calibration for lithography or process simulation.
- Expert knowledge of OPC (optical proximity correction) modeling and calibration workflows.
- Strong familiarity with GPU programming/acceleration and practical ML/AI techniques applied to modeling and calibration (experience with PyTorch/TensorFlow or equivalent).
- Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams and delivering production-grade software and models at scale.
- Excellent communication skills and experience interacting with customers and senior stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications
- Prior experience with Calibre or equivalent EDA/lithography toolchains.
- Track record of published work, patents, or technical talks in lithography modeling, OPC, or calibration methods.
- Strong software skills in C++, Python, and performance optimization techniques.
- Experience with distributed compute, cloud-based training/inference and MLOps practices.
Why join us
- Lead a strategic area that combines deep lithography expertise with cutting-edge ML and HPC technologies.
- Work at the intersection of research and product engineering with large, real-world impact for semiconductor customers.
- Competitive compensation and benefits, and opportunities for professional growth and leadership.
